FINAL: Richmond Kickers 2, New England Revolution 3
The New England Revolution got enough room to breathe late in the first half behind goals from Steve Neumann and Patrick Mullins, and held on to top the Richmond Kickers of USL PRO in their 2014 Lamar Hunt Open Cup opener at City Stadium in Richmond, Va.
Neumann helped the Revs start the scoring early, lofting a beautiful corner into the box in the eighth minute, which was headed home by Stephen McCarthy.
Richmond leveled things in the 25th minute on a hustle play from Jason Yeisley, who saved a ball from rolling over the endline and headed to George Davis IV, who fired it home from eight feet out. The third-league side's lead didn't last long, as Neumann and Mullins netted within five minutes of each other to give the Revs a two-goal cushion at the break.
Matthew Delicate’s 73rd minute goal gave the Kickers some late life, but another equalizer eluded the hosts despite heavy pressure over the final 15 minutes.
Neumann’s strike was the first of his Revs career, while McCarthy’s was his first since 2011, when he netted two as a rookie.
New England will continue their quest for the Open Cup when they face their USL PRO affiliate club, the Rochester Rhinos, next Wednesday, June 25, at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

FINAL: Chicago Fire 2, Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1 (game abandoned after 49 minutes)
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – The Chicago Fire secured their passage into the US Open Cup Round of 16 when their game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds was deemed unplayable due to stormy weather after Chicago had taken a 2-1 halftime lead at Toyota Park on Wednesday (WATCH HIGHLIGHTS HERE).
With the game delayed almost two hours before kick off because of torrential rain, thunder and lightning, the hosts forged a 2-0 lead by the 39th minute through close-range strikes from Grant Ward and Mike Magee.
However, the USL PRO visitors struck back through Andrew Marshall to leave them trailing 2-1 at the break. Just as referee Alex Chilowicz was about to get the second half underway, the heavens reopened and the players were called off the pitch.
The players returned more than an hour later and played three minutes before the game was abandoned. Subsequently, per Open Cup regulations, the Fire were declared winners of the tie, having held a halftime lead, and they will now progress to face the Columbus Crew in the next round.

FINAL: Sporting Kansas City 2, Minnesota United 0
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Sporting Kansas City struggled to complete the final pass through much of Wednesday night's match against shorthanded Minnesota United, but got second-half goals from Soony Saad and rookie Alex Martinez in a 2-0 victory.
Saad's strike from distance in the 76th minute, his second goal in as many matches across all competitions, stood as the game-winner. Martinez – an early injury substitute for Victor Munoz – iced it in the 87th, opening his professional scoring account from close range after a heady pass from Sal Zizzo in traffic.
The NASL side had to play a man down after the 50th minute, when defender Cristiano Dias was given a straight red card for leveling Sporting forward Dom Dwyer on a ball in the air.
Sporting came out in their striped second kits to start the match, but switched to plain blue training jerseys at the half because the stripes were too much like Minnesota United's black-on-gray scheme.

FINAL: Seattle Sounders 5, PSA Elite 0
TUKWILA, Wash. – Despite a lineup featuring five players who have yet to start an MLS regular-season match this season, the Seattle Sounders dominated amateur side PSA Elite 5-0, in their US Open Cup fourth-round match on Wednesday at Starfire Soccer Stadium.
Kenny Cooper scored a pair of goals to pace the hosts, with Brad Evans, Zach Scott and Sean Okoli adding one apiece.
The Sounders pressed from the opening whistle, and PSA Elite dropped into a five-man defense almost immediately. The bunker was effective in limiting Seattle’s opportunities for the first 20 minutes or so, but ended up only delaying the inevitable.
Aaron Kovar, a Homegrown player who has yet to make an MLS appearance, was the one who broke through. The 20-year-old Seattle native intercepted a pass in PSA Elite’s end and dribbled through multiple defenders before drawing a penalty kick. Evans coolly finished the spot kick to give the Sounders the lead in the 23rd minute.
Chances continued to come fast and furious, but it was not until Scott finished a Kovar corner kick that the Sounders extended their lead. They quickly added another before halftime, with Cooper heading in a David Estrada cross in the 45th minute.
Cooper scored on a bicycle kick to extend the Sounders’ lead to 4-0, and Okoli finished off the scoring when he finished a point-blank chance from a Chad Barrett cross.
Seattle improved to 18-1-2 all-time in Open Cup play as an MLS side and 15-0 at home. They will host the San Jose Earthquakes in the Round of 16 on June 24.

FINAL: Arizona United SC 1, LA Galaxy 2
Gyasi Zardes scored two goals in the opening minutes of the second half, and the LA Galaxy ended a three-game losing streak in the US Open Cup, rallying for a 2-1 victory in a fourth-round game at USL PRO club Arizona United.
Zardes tallied on headers two minutes apart, giving him three goals in successive first-team games, as the Galaxy – without Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan – dominated play but found themselves in a real fight at Peoria Sports Complex.
LA will play next week in Cary, N.C., against NASL club Carolina RailHawks, which has eliminated the Galaxy from the past two Open Cups.
Rob Friend scored a first-half goal that was flagged offside, and Stefan Ishizaki hit the left post in the 61st minute, and Arizona United kept things close primarily through goalkeeper Evan Newton, who parried a rocket shot and several dangerous corner kicks by Ishizaki.
Matt Kassel provided the home side a 36th-minute lead, slipping between A.J. DeLaGarza and Juninho to finish a Kadeem Dacres feed, but Zardes nodded home a Robbie Rogers chip in the 51st minute and an Ishizaki cross in the 53rd.
