US flag burned in protests in Natal

An American flag was burned in Natal in the lead-up to the USA vs. Ghana match as part of demonstrations against the World Cup, according to a report by Brazilian outlet UOL.

The article says that 150 persons gathered near the Arena das Dunas to protest against the World Cup and FIFA because of the cost of hosting the tournament, including providing security of the US team.

Bruno Thadeu, who filed the report, reports that the manifestations were mainly peaceful under the watchful eye of police, but that some American fans passing by the area were confronted by protesters without incident.
