World Cup: Mexico manager Miguel Herrera: "We can win the World Cup"

Mexico national team manager Miguel Herrera has a decidedly different approach to preparing his team for a major tournament than the USMNT's Jurgen Klinsmann.

While the US boss pointedly said, last December, that his team cannot win the World Cup – and then doubled down on that sentiment on Wednesday – Herrera's gone in an entirely different direction, telling a group of reporters that he believes El Tri can claim their first title:

Herrera's squad draws heavily from the group that beat Brazil for Olympic gold in 2012, so there is championship pedigree to be found. And he's done good work pulling Mexico out of their 2013 tailspin, leading the team to a nine-game unbeaten run to close 2013 and open '14.

Things didn't go quite as smoothly in their last two contests, however, as El Tri lost a pair of 1-0 decisions to Bosnia & Herzegovina and Portugal over the last 10 days.

Mexico are drawn into Group A along with Brazil, Croatia and Cameroon
