The LA Galaxy star was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday (above) and was his typical candid self, discussing the mixed emotions of watching the national team from afar and mulling over possible venues from which to watch the US in action.

"It's time to move on, and I'm now -- after being disappointed -- now I speak to the guys a lot, and they're all excited," Donovan said. "I'm excited to watch and support them. I haven't had a chance in 12 years to support the team as a fan. It's a little bittersweet, but it'll still be fun to watch them and wish them to do well."

Barring a last-minute injury, Donovan will be watching the World Cup from afar for the first time since 1998, and he had to think when Patrick asked him where he would watch the games.

"Part of me wants to sit on my couch and just sit there and let the emotions go one way or the other so I'm not around anyone," Donovan admitted. "Part of me wants to go sit at a bar and have a few beers and watch with local soccer fans and experience it all that way. So I don't know, it'll probably be a game-time decision."
