Independent review panel rescinds red card to DC United forward Eddie Johnson

NEW YORK – Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that an independent review panel has rescinded the fine and one-game suspension for the red card issued to D.C. United forward Eddie Johnson in Saturday's game against the New England Revolution.

Johnson was ejected in the 82nd minute by referee Juan Guzman for "serious foul play" after a collision with New England's Kelyn Rowe.

D.C. United submitted an appeal for review of the play, and the appeal was unanimously upheld by the independent review panel. Johnson is eligible to play on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City (7 pm ET, MLS LIVE).

The independent panel consists of one representative from the U.S. Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association, and Professional Referees Organization (PRO).
