World Cup: Germany's midfield problems mount with Lars Bender ruled out of World Cup

Germany's central midfield problems are becoming more and more of an issue as Lars Bender has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a thigh injury.

The news comes on the heels of injuries tofellow midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Lars' twin brother, Sven Bender. None will not make the trip to Brazil.

Sami Khedira also only recently returned to the field after a knee injury that sidelined him for most of the season. Even Bastian Schweinsteiger is nursing an injury that left him out Bayern Munich's Cup final against Borussia Dortmnud last Saturday. All of this may force Joachim Low to play Philipp Lahm in the midfield in Brazil, a position he transitioned to with Bayern Munich in 2013-14.
