It's 27 days and counting until Brazil 2014 is officially under way. We're getting psyched up for it by asking some of the biggest personalities in North American soccer for their magic moment.
Up next is Real Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman, who hopes to be in Brazil defending the US colors. But he likely won't be doing anything similar to what he watched as a 12-year-old at USA '94:
It's the one goal I saw in person: A Saudi Arabia goal against Belgium in RFK [scored by Saeed Al-Owairan]. I saw that live.
I can still see it. I was sitting in the nosebleeds up behind the goal, and he came toward me. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was amazing to watch. I wanted to be out on the field doing that.
The [World Cup] dream started when I first found out what the US national team was. I didn't know what being a professional soccer player meant. All it meant to me was 'you're on the US national team.'
So when they asked me, 'What do you want to do when you grow up?,' it was, 'I want to be a professional soccer player.' From the first time I saw the US national team play, that's all I wanted to be.”
