FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – There is a lot working against the New England Revolution attack heading into Saturday’s match against Sporting Kansas City (7:30 pm ET, MLS Live). Sure, much of it is hyperbole and happenstance, but sometimes these things stand out enough to cause mild panic attacks in even the bravest of supporters.
Sporting KC 'keeper Eric Kronberg has three clean sheets over the last four games, some of the Revolution’s best offensive weapons are still scoreless this season and Sporting has not allowed a goal against New England since July of 2011.
It may sound like the sky is falling, but none of this matters to the Revolution, who continue to see an improved effort on the offensive end with each match.
“We’re getting a lot of chances,” Diego Fagundez told MLSsoccer.com on Thursday. “Now it’s just a matter of time to keep finishing them and keep doing what we’ve been doing.”
So with everything balancing the scales against them, what better week for the New England attack to break through and who better than former Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury to lead the charge?
Bunbury, who has not scored a goal since August 11, 2012, has been showing more confidence and comfort with each match played in New England’s system, displaying great breakaway speed up the wings and a determined effort in and around the box.

“He’s doing everything we’re asking from a gameplan standpoint,” coach Jay Heaps said of Bunbury. “The pressure he’s putting on, the angles in which he’s helping us. ... That to me is the most important: that he’s working hard.”
“Goals are going to come for both Teal and our other forwards. We’re seven games in.”
The Revolution are not historians and could seemingly care less about past results, be it from 2012 or a week ago. The only thing that matters to the club is getting a positive result in the upcoming game, regardless of opponent and history.
“We’ll keep working hard,” said Fagundez. “Once we get those chances on Saturday, I think we’re going to bury them and hopefully get a good win.”
