DC United, Fulham FC to play July friendly at Jacksonville Jaguars' EverBank Field

D.C. United celebrate vs. New England Revolution

D.C. United announced Friday that they will travel south to play a friendly on July 26 against English Premier League side Fulham FC.

The match will be played at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla., home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.

The friendly will be part of Fulham’s preseason preparations. The London club has fielded a number of American players in the past, including Seattle Sounders midfielder Clint Dempsey on loan this winter, but it's currently in the midst of a relegation scrap.

“We’re looking forward to staging this match for fans of both types of football and introducing Fulham not only to Jacksonville, but to fans throughout the state and nation,” said Shahid Khan, owner of Fulham and the Jaguars, in a statement.

“There is great passion in the Jacksonville area for soccer, and this will be a rare opportunity to see our Fulham team play in Jacksonville, and against one of the premier professional franchises in American soccer.”

The US national team will also be appearing at EverBank Field in the coming months, playing their final pre-World Cup friendly against Nigeria on June 7 before departing for Brazil. The USMNT also faced Scotland in the Jaguars' home in a friendly in May of 2012.

Khan, who has owned the Jaguars since 2011, purchased Fulham last year.
