Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando edges Dom Dwyer for Wk. 7's Player of the Week after voter run-off

Nick Rimando and Dom Dwyer recently went at it in an entertaining Twitter exchange, and they did the same in this week's tight contest for the MLS Player of the Week award.

Rimando and Dwyer had one of the closest battles in recent MLS Player of the Week memory, as a run-off was opened to voters who did not vote for either player to decide who was victorious in Week 7.

Both players earned five first-place votes and four second-place votes en route to requiring the runoff, but it was Rimando who ultimately claimed the honors for his three-save performance in Real Salt Lake's 1-0 victory over the Portland Timbers. (See how the NASR members voted here.)

Dwyer had himself quite an outing, too. The Sporting Kansas City striker bagged a brace in the club's 4-0 demolition of the Montreal Impact, but alas it was not enough to outdo Rimando's latest heroics for the Week 7 accolade.

The Player of the Week award is Rimando's second of the season after the veteran goalkeeper was named the winner in Week 1.
