Talk of Clint Dempsey's slump came to a swift end this weekend.
Dempsey helped the Seatle Sounders grab a well-deserved point in a 4-4 road draw vs. the Portland Timbers on Saturday with a hat-trick outing that will not soon be forgotten. The US national team captain was voted the MLS Player of the Week in Week 5 as a result, picking up 15 of 21 votes. (See how the NASR members voted here.)
Deuce first netted the 2-2 equalizer in the first half before pulling off some late-game heroics to prevent Seattle from losing to their Cascadia rivals at Providence Park. Dempsey began the Sounders' late rally from two goals down by scoring in the 85th minute and added the game's final tally two minutes later on a penalty kick.
