MLS Commissioner Don Garber fines Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter for criticism of officials

Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber has fined Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter an undisclosed amount for public criticism of the officials, the league announed Friday afternoon.

The incident in question occurred after Porter criticized the officiating in Portland's 2-1 loss to FC Dallas last Saturday, singling out an incident that saw the Timbers' Michael Harrington and Dallas' JeVaughn Watson both issued red cards. Both cards were later rescinded by an independent review panel.

In his remarks, Porter also questioned the lack of protection for forward Darlington Nagbe, who left the Dallas game with a knock at halftime and is in doubt for Saturday's rivalry clash with the Seattle Sounders (3 pm ET, NBCSN/Free stream on NBCSports.com).
