CanMNT: Canada announce closed-door friendly vs. Bulgaria during Austria camp on May 23

Canada's Kyle Porter against the Czechs

The Canadian national team will open its 2014 match schedule with a closed-door friendly against Bulgaria in Ritzing, Austria next month, in the midst of a 10-day training camp in the Alps. The match marks the first meeting between the two nations at the senior international level.

Canada coach Benito Floro will convene his squad on May 18 and face Bulgaria at the 5,000-seat Sonnenseestadion, home to Austrian Regional League East club SC Ritzing, on May 23. The camp runs until May 28.

The trip marks the second such outing to Austria under Floro, who took the Canadian national team to Bad Waltersdorf last November for a camp highlighted by meetings with the Czech Republic and Slovenia (Canada lost those matches 2-0 and 1-0, respectively).

Canada have already scheduled fall friendlies against Jamaica at Toronto FC's BMO Field on September 9 and Panama, who host Les Rouges at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City on November 18.
