World Cup: Mix Diskerud, Michael Bradley and Tim Ream off of USMNT roster for friendly

Mix Diskerud, US national team

Jurgen Klinsmann got a long look at Mix Diskerud in January, as the Rosenborg playmaker was a key part of the extended USMNT camp heading into a friendly vs. South Korea.

He won't get a briefer look this week, according to the player's Twitter feed.

Diskerud, who has been part of Klinsmann's midfield rotation and often used as a late-game attacking spark, announced that he won't be in the US camp ahead of Wednesday's scheduled friendly vs. Ukraine in Cyprus. RBK released the player for January camp -- which took place outside of FIFA-mandated international dates -- and, as part of an agreement with the USSF cited in the tweet, have now asked to retain their playmaker this week.

Klinsmann has, according to Diskerud, honored that agreement.

U.S. Soccer did not respond to an MLSsoccer.com request to confirm Diskerud's tweet, and later put out a press release announcing that Diskerud, along with Michael Bradley of Toronto FC and Tim Ream of Bolton Wanderers, had been removed from the roster.

Bradley, according to the release, "will stay behind to receive treatment for a minor issue in order to be fully prepared for the start of the MLS season," while Ream is stepping out of the camp for "personal reasons," later reported by the Washington Post as the birth of his son.

Diskerud is said to be "returning to full fitness following a right hip injury suffered 10 days ago."

There is no mention of any agreement with Rosenborg.
