American Exports: Full 90s for Jonathan Bornstein, Emanuel Guzman, Austin Guerrero in Copa MX

Jonathan Bornstein speaks to Mexican media

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jonathan Bornstein is slowly getting into rhythm after a stagnant spell at Tigres UANL, featuring in the last four consecutive games for new club Atlante.

The former Chivas USA defender completed another 90 minutes in the Copa MX on Wednesday in Los Potros’ 1-1 home draw with Pumas UNAM, a result that puts Atlante in first position in Group 4 and with a strong chance of progressing to the knockout stage of the competition.

Also in Group 4, Lakewood, Calif., native Emanuel Guzman – formerly of the Ventura County Fusion in the USL Premier Development League – completed the full game in Mérida’s 4-0 win at Delfines del Carmen.

In Group 1, there was no Jose Villarreal or Michael Farfan for Cruz Azul Hidalgo, but Austin Guerrero kept his first clean sheet for Altamira in the 0-0 draw, although both teams cannot mathematically get out of the group.

Over in Puebla, Lobos BUAP kept their slim chances alive of advancing from Group 3 after their 1-0 win over Alebrijes de Oaxaca, with Marco Vidal going 66 minutes before making way for fellow American Daniel Cuevas.
