American Exports: USMNT starter DaMarcus Beasley & Puebla settle for draw at Atlante

DaMarcus Beasley with Puebla

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Puebla’s indifferent form continued in the Liga MX on Sunday, with La Franja managing only a draw 0-0 at Atlante in a game involving three Americans.

DaMarcus Beasley went 79 minutes on Puebla’s left flank, starting as a left wingback and moving further forward after a tactical change at halftime. But the game was stale, with few chances and the US national team player didn’t have much influence.

In defense, Michael Orozco was solid in keeping Atlante – who had more possession than Puebla on the day – at bay over the 90 minutes.

For Atlante, Jonathan Bornstein came off the bench for the last eight minutes of the game as Los Potros pushed for what would’ve been a vital three points in their bid to stave off relegation.

The result means Atlante are now five points off Atlas in the relegation table, with Puebla 10 above Los Potros.

On Saturday, midfielder Jose Torres entered the field in the 74th in Tigres UANL’s 1-0 victory over Veracruz. It was the Monterrey club’s first win of the Liga MX season.
