American Exports: DaMarcus Beasley expected to play for Puebla vs. Cruz Azul despite brief injury scare

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley is fit and ready to play for Puebla against Cruz Azul on Saturday, the Liga MX club confirmed to MLSsoccer.com on Thursday, following injury concerns after he limped off the field in Puebla’s 1-0 loss last Sunday to Chivas.

Michael Orozco Fiscal is also set to feature for La Franja as they take on the Liga MX leader, for whom Jose Villarreal and Michael Farfan are both patiently waiting to debut (Univision, 6 pm ET).

For Herculez Gomez, there is a first trip back with Club Tijuana to former team Santos Laguna, where he will he will be hoping to open his scoring account this Clausura season (Friday, Univision Deportes, 10:30 pm ET).


Alongside him for Xolos, Joe Corona will be keen to get some more minutes under his belt, Edgar Castillo is set to start at left back, Paul Arriola may be involved and Greg Garza is available.



In Tuxtla Gutiérrez on Saturday, Jose Torres and Tigres UANL take on Chiapas, for whom Gabriel Farfan is nearing full fitness having missed the preseason following his move from Chivas USA (Univision Deportes, 10 pm ET).

Also Saturday, Jonathan Bornstein’s Atlante face a trip to Pachuca (Univision, 8 pm ET).

In Mexico’s second division, Sonny Guadarrama's and Ventura Alvarado’s Necaxa are looking to consolidate their playoff position against Mérida on Saturday (7 pm ET).

On Sunday, Lobos BUAP’s American duo Marco Vidal and Daniel Cuevas travel to Cruz Azul Hidalgo (1 pm ET).
