American Exports: Jermaine Jones set to return to training with Besiktas, weekend debut possible

Jermaine Jones

AMSTERDAM – Fresh BeÅŸiktaÅŸ catch Jermaine Jones is due back in full training on Thursday, but the club are taking a wait-and-see attitude toward setting a target date for his debut.

The 32-year-old, who arrived last month from Schalke, is sidelined with a groin injury. Jones will miss Tuesday night's league trip to face cross-town rivals Kasımpaşa, but could return for Sunday's visit from Bursaspor.

"He is having treatment now, but he will be back training with the team on Thursday," Black Eagles press officer Can Ipekçi told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday afternoon.

Jones, who looks set for his first World Cup experience in Brazil this summer, is also in line to become the first American to play for BeÅŸiktaÅŸ.

The 13-time Turkish champs stand third in the table through 19 games, with Tuesday's match a game in hand. They already hold the Süper Lig's second Champions League slot, but can move to within a point of a group-stage pass and to within five points of the top by defeating KasimpaÅŸa.
