Updated list of MLS players called up for March 5 FIFA fixture date

Jermain Defoe trains with England

Toronto FC forward Jermain Defoe will get another opportunity to stake his claim to a 2014 World Cup roster spot. Sporting KC midfielder Mechack Jerome will just get another opportunity to play internationally.

On Sunday, Jerome was the latest MLS player called up for a midweek friendly against Kosovo, a non-FIFA member, in Mitrovica. Jerome, 23, has 22 caps for Haiti since debuting in 2008 while still a teenager.

Earlier in the week, England manager Roy Hodgson called Defoe up to the 30-man squad for the March 5 friendly date against Denmark at Wembley Stadium. The recently signed TFC man was one of six forwards named, alongside the likes of Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge.

Defoe will skip his last competitive match with Tottenham -- against Dnipro in the Europa League on Thursday -- with a hamstring injury, paving the way for his official arrival to Toronto FC, who kick off their 2014 season on March 15.
