American Exports: DaMarcus Beasley's Puebla break through for first Clausura win

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley’s Puebla picked up their first win of the Liga MX’s Clausura championship on Saturday, overcoming Veracruz 1-0 on the road.

US international Beasley played 90 minutes in the left wingback role he has been getting accustomed to under coach Rubén Omar Romano, but was limited in his attacking intent with Los Tiburones Rojos pressuring La Franja before Alberto Medina’s goal eight minutes from time.

Michael Orozco went the full 90 minutes on the left side of three center backs and had a good game helping to resist Veracruz as they piled forward in search of a home win.

Things aren’t looking as rosy for Jose Torres or Tigres UANL. The American had to wait until the 86th minute to see action in his team’s 0-0 draw in Saturday’s Monterrey derby against Los Rayados, meaning the club is still rooted to the foot of the Liga MX table after five rounds of matches.

Former Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein was not in Atlante’s 18 for their 1-0 loss to Club América.

In the second division, Sonny Guadarrama went 66 minutes in Necaxa’s 2-0 defeat at San Luis on Friday, while Marco Vidal completed the full game for Lobos BUAP in their 1-1 road tie with Mérida, also Friday.
