US Under-17 national team captures Aegean Cup title with 2-1 win over Turkey

The US Under-17 men's national team collected more international accolades Saturday, topping host country Turkey 2-1 to claim victory in the 2014 Aegean Cup title game.

LA Galaxy Academy forward Haji Wright (pictured) added his second goal of the tournament while Joe Gallardo, who plays at the youth levels for Mexico's Monterrey, managed his third of the tournament. Gallardo's three goals led the U-17s in Turkey, while starting goalkeeper Will Pulisic claimed the tournament's Golden Glove award.

The US, who have been led by coach Richie Williams since 2012, were assured of their berth in the final after a strong start to pool play that saw them beat France on a last-minute goal before routing Norway. The results meant a 1-1 draw with Scotland in the last game of pool play would prove inconsequential in the standings.

It is the second title for the U-17s in the span of two months, with the team having captured the 2013 Nike International Friendlies title in December. Wright, Gallardo and Pulisic also figured prominently in that triumph.
