Philadelphia Union agree to deal with San Lorenzo for defender Carlos Valdes

After weeks of uncertainty, it appears Carlos Valdés will get his wish to stay in South America for the 2014 season.

The Philadelphia Union tweeted Friday evening that Valdés was on his way to Argentine club San Lorenzo:

Although prior reports indicated this will be a loan deal, there was no official word from the Union confirming whether it was a loan or not.

Valdés, 28, was on loan in 2013 to Independiente Santa Fe from the Union. The 2012 MLS All-Star has worked his way into the Colombian national team ahead of this summer's World Cup, and reportedly wants to remain in South America in order to maximize his chances of playing for los Cafeteros in Brazil.
