Toronto FC acquire defender Bradley Orr on loan from English Championship side Blackburn Rovers

New Toronto FC defender Bradley Orr

Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has acquired defender Bradley Orr on loan from English Championship club Blackburn Rovers FC.

As per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Bradley Orr represents the addition of a versatile defender with valuable experience, and gives greater depth to our backline,” Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. “Ryan [Nelsen, head coach] has known Bradley for some time and was instrumental in helping to secure his arrival to our club.”

Orr, 31, most recently spent time on loan from Blackburn at English Championship side, Blackpool FC and made four appearances. He began his career at Newcastle United and was sent on loan to Burnley FC in 2004.

At the conclusion of his loan, Orr signed with Bristol City FC and went on to make 235 total appearances for the club. In the summer of 2010, Orr signed with Queens Park Rangers FC and helped the club gain promotion into the English Premier League that same season.

He remained with QPR until transferring to Blackburn in January 2012. He made 34 appearances for Blackburn before going on two separate loans to Ipswich Town FC and finally to Blackpool.
