The Chicago Fire continued to make moves on Friday, reportedly acquiring UNC Charlotte forward Giuseppe Gentile in a waiver draft.

It was announced Wednesday that Gentile (pictured), along with former Haiti Under-17 international Christiano Francois had opted to relinquish their remaining college eligibility and sign contracts with MLS. Despite both being underclassmen, neither is on a Generation adidas deal. Francois was selected by D.C. United in Friday's waiver draft.

Gentile tweeted the following message Friday afternoon:

A Fire spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that the team had indeed selected him in the waiver draft.

Gentile, who recently finished his junior year with the 49ers, is considered a prototypical No. 9 forward and scored 27 goals in three college seasons. He was the team's assist leader as a sophomore in 2012.
