40 years of San Jose Earthquakes history set to culminate with brand new logo, stadium | SIDELINE

Chris Wondolowski - Earthquakes' Since 1974 history

The times are changing, and changing quickly — especially if you're a San Jose Earthquakes fan.

By the beginning of the 2015 MLS season, the Quakes will have undergone a transformation that will have included a new head coach in charge, a new club logo and a brand-new soccer-specific stadium for opening day 2015.

They're also using a new hashtag on Twitter these days — #Quakes74 — just in case all the above wasn't enough new news for you.

In honor of all the change moving forward, the Quakes digital staff put together what can only be described as a comprehensive, all-encompassing history of the club, which dates all the way back to 1974 and the early days of the original North American Soccer League.

If you've not already done so, check out the Quakes' "Since 1974" history page on their website and educate yourself a bit more about one of MLS' oldest and most history-laden clubs.

On January 30, the club is hosting a 40th anniversary celebration at the San Pedro Square Market in downtown San Jose. At the event, the team will unveil its brand new logo — which, if you look at the rest of the promotion graphics for the event, is probably a safe bet to have a certain "throwback" feel to it. Quakes fans, RSVP now.

New stadium, new look, winning product on the field all at once? Hey, it worked for Sporting Kansas City.
