AMSTERDAM – Kaiserslautern forward Andrew Wooten has been put on the market, drawing a wide variety of interest from both inside and outside Germany.
According to his agent, the former US youth international has both loan and purchase options during the current transfer window. Wooten has found playing time hard to come by this term following last season's successful loan stint at 2.Bundesliga rivals Sandhausen, who are also among the current crowd making plays for the American.
"We are talking to several clubs in Germany, but we are open to all directions," Wooten's rep, Ingo Haspel, told MLSsoccer.com by phone on Wednesday. "He has also had calls from different countries, including Turkey, Azerbaijan and Israel."
Though Wooten has not seen any interest from Major League Soccer at this time, the player and his agent would certainly would welcome it.
"I have not had any contacts about him from America, but he is very open to the possibility of playing in MLS," Haspel said.
This season, Wooten has appeared in just four league matches and none since mid-September for promotion-chasing Kaiserslautern. Last season with Sandhausen, he bagged seven goals – good for second-best on the team – and three assists in 28 games.
