How Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey could impact English Premier League title race

Clint Dempsey of Fulham FC

Clint Dempsey may only be playing with Fulham for two months on loan, but that could be more than enough time for the Seattle Sounders forward to impact the English Premier League title race.

Deuce could potentially be on the field for matches against three of the EPL championship hopefuls with his loan spell officially kicking off on Wednesday with the opening of the secondary European transfer window.

Dempsey did not see action or even make the team sheet in the Cottagers' first match of 2014, a 2-1 win over West Ham, but he could feature in 10 total matches, including up to three FA Cup fixtures.

More importantly, he'll have matches against some of the title contenders -- Arsenal (Jan. 18), Manchester United (Feb. 9) and Liverpool (Feb. 12) -- circled on his calendar.

Those three teams are currently in the top six in the EPL table with Arsenal looking set to make their first realistic title run in years. That should be plenty of motivation for Dempsey, a long-time player for Arsenal's London rivals Fulham and Tottenham.
