FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas plan to name their new head coach by the end of this week and possibly even sooner.
In a conference call with media Tuesday afternoon, FCD Technical Director Fernando Clavijo (above) admitted that the search for Schellas Hyndman’s replacement has gone on longer than they’d hoped, but also revealed that the club is in the final stages of their interview process.
“I think we’re a little bit behind the [eight] ball because the whole idea was at this point to have a coach in place,” said Clavijo. “We have interviewed all the people that we wanted to and we have decided that there’s three finalists in this interview process. Hopefully we can come to terms in the next couple of days.”

Clavijo also confirmed that longtime assistant Marco Feruzzi is one of the final candidates under consideration for the position.
“I think Marco is a good candidate in many ways. Everyone, every single one of the players felt that he was a good candidate and that we have a very good candidate at home. He relates to the players well, he did very well [in his interview], and he’s a true professional,” elaborated Clavijo.
Clavijo added that former FC Dallas player and Real Salt Lake manager Jason Kreis was on their original wish list, but the newly-appointed New York City FC head coach was not among the eight to ten candidates interviewed by Dallas’ search committee.
