Sporting KC's Peter Vermes appears on Sky Sports; predicts Defoe, Lampard to join MLS | SIDELINE

Peter Vermes interviewed on Sky Sports News

Win the MLS Cup final on Saturday, then appear live and in studio on Sky Sports News by Wednesday — just a small sampling of what it's like to be Sporting Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes these days.

If you're interested in hearing what Vermes had to say during his time on the British sports broadcasting behemoth, check out a short clip of his interview here.

Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman tweeted on Tuesday that Vermes was airborne and headed for Europe. Whether or not the UK is one of his scouting stops is unknown.

The big news to take away from Vermes on one of the world's most popular sports programs, other than the fact an American coach from MLS was actually a featured guest? Vermes has a hunch about Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and a future in MLS for the pair of English superstars.

"They're world-class players with great qualities that I think only will help enhance the league, and continue to bring more and more popularity to it," Vermes said when asked about the pair of World Cup hopefuls. "Two tremendous players, and I actually see both of them coming. I think it's going to happen."

The last bit came with a wry smile from Vermes.

Defoe has recently been linked with a January move to Toronto FC, while Lampard was rumored to have drawn serious interest from the LA Galaxy as recently as this past spring.
