San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham to train with Danish club FC Copenhagen

David Bingham made his first-team debut for San Jose against West Brom.

AMSTERDAM – San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham is headed across the pond for a training visit with Danish champions FC Copenhagen.

The Earthquakes on Tuesday officially announced the sojourn, which will extend until Nov. 20. Bingham will have his first practice session with the Lions on Thursday.

"He is heading over there today," Bingham's rep, Mike Gartlan, told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "He will spend a couple of weeks training with them."

A Bay Area native and Cal alum who grew up rooting for the Earthquakes, Bingham joined the team through a weighted lottery in 2011 after signing a Generation adidas deal with MLS.

Perhaps best known for his long-boot goal in a friendly against West Bromwich Albion that year, he has worked five MLS games and seven cup contests for San Jose.
