Star Power: Clint Dempsey leads Sounders to victory

Clint Dempsey

Even Clint Dempsey knew it was about time that he scored his first goal since his high-profile return to MLS.

After failing to find the back of the net in his first eight appearances for the Seattle Sounders, he finally broke through against the LA Galaxy on Sunday night (follow LIVE now). He celebrated by tapping an imaginary watch on his wrist as if to acknowledge that he knew it was about time.

In the 30th minute, Dempsey ghosted away from LA's Omar Gonzalez and redirected Lamar Neagle's cross from the right side past goalkeeper Jaime Penedo

Late in the second half, Robbie Keane struck an equalizer. The result means LA finish in 3rd place, and Seattle in 4th. The Sounders will host the Colorado Rapids in a midweek Knockout Game, while the Galaxy will face Real Salt Lake in the two-leg Western Conference Semifinal series.
