Save of the Week: Week 34

Things got down to the nitty gritty in Week 34 as playoff dreams were won, lost and deferred around the league.

Perhaps that's why there were so many stellar candidates for Save of the Week honors. Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson came up with a huge save to safeguard his team's postseason ambitions on Saturday, while his opposite number Stefan Frei, making his first MLS start in more than two years, nearly played spoiler with a top-drawer stop of his own in Chicago's 1-0 win.

Out west, LA Galaxy 'keeper Jaime Penedo has gotten another SOTW nod for a fine effort in Sunday's 0-0 draw with San Jose, a game that also featured a highlight-reel block by Jon Busch.

And Real Salt Lake's hard-earned 0-0 draw at Portland would not have been possible without the heroics of Nick Rimando, who is nominated for one of his several unbelievable saves on Saturday night.
