It appears Bob Bradley will not lose his job as the head coach of the Egyptian national team after their humiliating 6-1 World Cup first-leg playoff defeat to Ghana, according to a report from BBC Sport.
But the former US national team boss may not be able to lead the Pharaohs, who would need a miracle to qualify for the World Cup, in the second leg against Ghana due to safety concerns in Egypt.
Egypt Football Association chairman Gamal Allam told BBC Sport that Bradley’s sacking is “not logical,” as he would still be owed the money remaining on his contract.
Airport security was increased for Egypt’s return from Ghana on the heels of police clashing with fan groups that have tried to attack the Al-Ahly handball team after they were beaten to the gold medal in the Champions Handball League by a Tunisian side.
And last week, Ghana wrote to FIFA to ask for the second leg tie, currently scheduled for Nov. 16 in Cairo, to be moved from Egypt because of safety concerns. FIFA has given the Egyptian FA until Oct. 28 to provide security guarantees.
