American Exports: Jose Torres denies allegations of partying hours after ejection from Tigres game

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – US international Jose Torres has slammed allegations about his off-the-field behavior.

Grupo Reforma columnist San Cadilla El Norte – who writes under a pen name – suggested in pieces both Sunday and Monday that Torres attended a norteña concert on Saturday night, just hours after getting sent off for Tigres UANL in their 2-1 loss to Toluca, prompting the Texan to face the press on Tuesday to straighten out his name.

“The truth is I didn’t go,” stated a clearly agitated Torres in Monterrey. “I can’t show my face after a red card, I can’t be seen going out like that. I know the times to go out and with whom.”

Torres added that a photograph of him alongside the singer of the group Pesado had been edited and that there was no evidence he did attend the concert.

The 25-year-old went on to lament the situation Tigres find themselves in, with pressure mounting on coach Ricardo Ferretti due to the team's indifferent form in the Liga MX and the prospect of reaching the playoffs increasingly distant.

Torres, who has been a regular invitee of Jurgen Klinsmann with the US national team, was not called into the squad for upcoming qualifiers against Jamaica and at Panama.
