LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena suspended by MLS Disciplinary Committee for Chivas USA match

Bruce Arena, LA Galaxy (July 27, 2013)

The LA Galaxy will take on their in-house rivals without the services of head coach Bruce Arena on Sunday, thanks to a decision by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.

The Disciplinary Committee announced Friday it has suspended Arena one game for an incident during the team’s 1-0 loss to the Portland Timbers last Sunday at JELD-WEN Field. Arena left his technical area and entered the field of play while arguing the call that negated a stoppage-time goal for Robbie Keane, which per league policy results in an automatic one-game suspension.

As a result, Arena will not be permitted on the sideline or in the locker room while he serves his suspension Sunday against Chivas USA at the StubHub Center (5 pm ET, UniMas). Associate head coach Dave Sarachan is expected to serve in Arena’s stead for the match.
