It's a time-honored soccer tradition: The person carrying the armband carries the trophy.
While in American team sports it's often the team owner that gets the privilege, in soccer it's typical for the captain to be the first to hoist the silverware after a championship victory.
Last night at Rio Tinto Stadium, D.C. United manager Ben Olsen bucked both trends.

The ex-D.C. United player, now in his third full year as the Black-and-Red's coach, first carried the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup trophy to his team captain, Dwayne De Rosario, and then helped him raise it in celebration.
Those who are bothered by it, may want to watch the video below before they're too hard on Olsen. He loves the club and it shows. And despite a 3-21-6 regular-season record, his team is also right behind him.
