Indy Eleven (NASL) unveil jerseys for inaugural 2014 season

North American Soccer League expansion club Indy Eleven were busy on Tuesday night unveiling important pieces of the club's identity as their 2014 debut inches ever closer.

The Indianapolis-based club revealed first, and most importantly for fans, the rotation of three jerseys it will wear in its inaugural NASL season starting next spring. Manufactured by Diadora and sponsored by Honda, Indy Eleven stuck with the three colors of the club's crest — red, blue and white — for their jersey options. The checkerboard pattern is an obvious ode to Indianapolis' motorsports racing heritage.

The club is running a fan poll on its website, running until next Tuesday, to decide whether the red or blue jersey will serve as the home strip in 2014. For a few in-person shots of the highly detailed jerseys, check out this gallery.

Indy Eleven also officially unveiled the first player signing in club history on Tuesday, goalkeeper Kristian Nicht. The 31-year-old German most recently played with USL PRO side Rochester Rhinos from 2012-13, and was named USL PRO Goalkeeper of the Year in 2012, on the back of posting 11 shutouts in the club's 24 league games. This year, Nicht had a 1.56 GAA despite the Rhinos' 11th-place finish (out of 13), and he posted eight shutouts in 24 starts.

Indy Eleven recently passed the 5,000 season-ticket deposit mark with a stated goal of 7,000 by November 11. Home games will initially be played at Carroll Stadium, home of IUPUI college track and soccer.
