AMSTERDAM – Rapid Vienna forward Terrence Boyd will be on the mend from a dislocated shoulder until early next month, meaning he will miss at least two Austrian Bundesliga matches and their entire Europa League playoff-round duel with Georgian side FC Dila Gori.
The 22-year-old, who already has three goals and two assists in six games across all competition this term, suffered the setback while on international duty with the US national team in Bosnia last week. He did not play in the team's 4-3 win.
"Terrence said it happened in [US national team] training," Rapid press officer Peter Klinglmüller told MLSsoccer.com. "We think he will be fit again in two to three weeks."
The injury also puts his availability for the upcoming CONCACAF World Cup qualifers in question. The USMNT will resume World Cup qualifying with a trip to Costa Rica on Sept. 6, followed four days later by a visit to Columbus Crew Stadium for a match against archrivals Mexico.
Boyd has appeared in two matches in 2013 for the USMNT — both off the bench — but has not appeared in any World Cup qualifying matches.
The German-born forward sat out Rapid's first league loss of the season at Admira Wacker over the weekend. The Green-Whites currently stand fourth in the table through five rounds.
