American Exports: Alejandro Bedoya's European suitors whittled down to three

Alejandro Bedoya with Helsingborg

AMSTERDAM – Free agent attacker Alejandro Bedoya is getting close to joining his next club, as MLSsoccer.com has learned that only Swiss side Grasshoppers, Dutch outfit Heerenveen and a Ligue 1 club are left in the fight for his services.

The 26-year-old, who ran out of contract with Swedish leaders Helsingborg last week, is hoping to have a deal sealed by next week. Of the three teams in deep talks with the playmaker, multiple sources informed that Heerenveen are currently neck-and-neck with the mystery French suitor in this race. Meanwhile, 27-time Swiss champs Grasshoppers appear to be running from the back.

Bedoya has already rejected offers from 2.Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth, Croatian power Hajduk Split and Danish outfit Randers FC this summer, while other previously interested parties such as FC Twente and Feyenoord have long since dropped away. Earlier this year, he also entertained offers and interest from the likes of Augsburg, Elfsborg, Ukraine's FC Chernomorets, Belgium, Mexico and MLS.

Before leaving Helsingborg, Bedoya started the season on fire, ringing up seven goals and five assists in 14 matches across all competition.
