AMSTERDAM – Jermaine Jones and Schalke were made to sweat a bit at fifth-flight FC Nöttingen on Monday, but eventually punched their ticket to the DfB-Pokal second round with a 2-0 victory.

The US midfielder worked an active full shift, which was needed as the Miners weren't able to breathe easy until Leon Goretzka bagged the insurance tally deep into stoppage time.

One of 10 clubs employing Americans among the final 32, Schalke will learn their next cup opponent in Saturday's second-round draw.
