Sporting KC's CJ Sapong returns to Orlando City on loan, eligible for USL PRO playoffs

C.J. Sapong with Orlando City

C.J. Sapong is heading back to Orlando City. Just not for very long.

Sporting Kansas City and USL PRO affiliate Orlando City announced Friday that Sapong will return to the Lions on a loan that will last only through the weekend, one in which Orlando are set to play the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and VSI Tampa Bay FC. The brief loan is being done so that Sapong can reach the minimum five appearances that are required to be eligible for the USL PRO playoffs, which begin in late August.

The 24-year-old forward joined Orlando City for a brief loan last month, a move he later described as humbling. Sapong scored one goal and had one assist during his first stint with the USL PRO club.
