This is the best team the USMNT has met yet. Obviously. So it&#39;ll be closer. But the confidence &ndash; dare I say arrogance? &ndash; in the US team is too high for these Ticos. That one CR goal, by the way, will be a late consolation.

<p>That Cuba goal was a hint of what a real team can do against the untested USMNT defense. Still say the American attack will rule the day, but Sabo, Arrieta, Barrantes &amp; Co. will make this one a full 90-minute competition.</p><ul><li><strong><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/news/article/2013/07/11/throw-why-gold-cup-team-may-be-my-favorite-usmnt-roster-history" target="_blank">Freedman: Why this Gold Cup team is my all-time favorite USMNT</a></strong></li></ul>

<p class="rtecenter"><strong>DRAW</strong><br><strong>1-1</strong></p>
The USMNT does not respond well to games that are tactically hard to solve, especially in the absence of an established leader within the squad. Costa Rica manager Jorge Luis Pinto will devise a tactical plan that will frustrate the US and plant the seeds of self-doubt in the American ranks heading into the knockout rounds.
<em><strong><img alt="" src="https://league-mp7static.mlsdigital.net/mp6/valencia_1.jpg" style="width: 50px; height: 50px;"></strong></em><p class="rtecenter"><strong>Kristel Valencia</strong><br><em><span style="font-size: 12px;">Editor FutbolMLS.com</span></em></p>
<p class="rtecenter"><strong>DRAW</strong><br><strong>1-1</strong></p>
<p>The best two teams of the Gold Cup will not risk much in this game, they&rsquo;re both in the next round and they&#39;ve got to take it easy. However, they will give us a glimpse of what we should expect if they face off again in the semis. The US are absolutely strong in attack but still need to be solid in defense, which will be put to the test by Sabo, Arrieta &amp; Co., while Costa Rica have kept the momentum going from World Cup qualifying, even with a &quot;B&quot; team. A tie would be fair enough to close the group stage action for both.</p>

<p class="rtecenter"><img alt="" src="https://league-mp7static.mlsdigital.net/mp6/index.jpg" style="width: 35px; height: 35px;"><br><strong>3-1</strong></p>
<p>Klinsmann has been very, very good at making tactical adjustments to create space for his attackers &ndash;&nbsp;mainly Landon Donovan, who&#39;s been phenomenal. I suspect he&#39;ll do it once again vs. a Costa Rica team that&#39;s been underwhelming in both games thus far.</p><ul><li><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/news/article/2013/07/13/armchair-analyst-three-things-we-learned-about-adjustments-brek-and-wondow" target="_blank"><strong>Analyst: Three things we learned about adjustments, Brek and Wondow</strong></a></li></ul>

<p class="rtecenter"><img alt="" src="https://league-mp7static.mlsdigital.net/mp6/index.jpg" style="width: 35px; height: 35px;"><br><strong>2-0</strong></p>
<p>Costa Rica want <em>venganza</em> for the SnowClasico, but they&#39;ll have to wait until September&#39;s WCQ for that opportunity. Jurgen Klinsmann used the first two games to find the right lineup mix, and that XI will pass their toughest Gold Cup test yet and top Group C.</p><ul><li><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/news/article/2013/07/15/gold-cup-let-it-snow-ticos-still-nursing-grudge-us-have-no-intention-letting" target="_blank"><strong>Let it snow? Klinsmann, US say revenge won&#39;t be on the menu</strong></a></li></ul>

<p class="rtecenter"><img alt="" src="https://league-mp7static.mlsdigital.net/mp6/index.jpg" style="width: 35px; height: 35px;"><br><strong>2-1</strong></p>
<p>The Ticos will provide a much tougher test than either of the US&#39; two other group opponents, not to mention a few scares, but Klinsmann&#39;s team is simply clicking too well in attack at the moment to think they&#39;ll get anything less than a point out of this one. In fact, they&#39;ll probably get more.</p><ul><li><strong><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/news/article/2013/07/13/gold-cup-wonderful-chris-wondolowski-keeps-rolling-breaks-usmnt-record" target="_blank">&quot;Very confident&quot; Wondolowski now holds US Gold Cup scoring record</a></strong></li></ul>

<p class="rtecenter"><strong>DRAW</strong><br><strong>1-1</strong></p>
<p>Confidence is high with the US and they are the better team here, but I have a funny feeling that it&#39;s a reality check in game three that will help the US avoid any letups on their way to the final. If it happens, it will be a blessing, and they&#39;ll still finish atop the group.</p><ul><li><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/video/2013/07/15/gold-cup-today-715-wondo-keeps-scoring-panama-top-group" target="_blank"><strong>Gold Cup Today: Can Wondo keep scoring?</strong></a></li></ul>

<p>As much as I think the US won&#39;t cruise past the Ticos, I still don&#39;t see Costa Rica pulling the victory from Hartford. At the same time, the US come with confidence to this one and will claim the first seed in the group.</p><ul><li><strong><a href="//www.mlssoccer.com/es/goldcup/news/article/2013/07/16/copa-oro-costa-rica-sigue-herida-tras-el-partido-en-denver-y-buscara-revanch" target="_blank">Costa Rica still smarting from Snow Game loss in March</a></strong></li></ul>
