American Exports: USMNT Gold Cup call-up Josh Gatt leaves club game with knee injury

Josh Gatt

AMSTERDAM – Molde FK winger Josh Gatt departed a 3-1 victory over visiting Sarpsborg 08 with an apparent knee injury on Saturday, but there was no immediate word as to how that might affect his CONCACAF Gold Cup call-up.

The US wing prospect put an early chance just over and drew a comfortable save from the netminder midway through the opening frame. Gatt left the proceeding four minutes ahead of halftime, with the defending Norwegian champs up one.

Molde won their third straight at home, climbing two rungs out of the Tippeligaen cellar. The club has yet to issue any news on Gatt's injury.

Around the league, Steve Clark notched eight saves to give Hønefoss the chance for a late 1-1 rally at Sogndal.

The Michigan native was caught stranded on the home side's 26th-minute opener, but atoned with a big stop on scorer Rune Bolseth four minutes later. In the second half, he added a pair of highlight-reel stops on Man of the Match Malick Mané.

Despite remaining winless in three, Hønefoss moved up one place to 10th.
