Where the Portland Timbers' 15-match unbeaten run ranks in MLS history

Rodney Wallace celebrates his goal for Portland

The Portland Timbers rolled to a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday evening, their 15th straight match without a loss. How does that stack up against the longest unbeaten runs in MLS history? Pretty well.

In fact, the Timbers' 15-match undefeated run is tied for the 4th-longest streak in league history. And it is the second-longest unbeaten run ever in a single season, behind only a 19-match streak by FC Dallas in 2010.

Extended the streak won't be easy. The Timbers do not play again in the league until Sunday, July 7, when they travel to the Columbus Crew, and by that point, they will most likely be without several key players, including Will Johnson, Frederic Piquionne, and Rodney Wallace, all of whom are expected to be called up for the Gold Cup.
