Real Madrid reportedly considering summer friendly in St. Louis | THE SIDELINE

With all due respect to the 1999 St. Louis Rams, a rumored soccer friendly for this summer inside the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis would easily supplant the Super Bowl XXXIV winners as "The Greatest Show on Turf."

Spanish giant Real Madrid were reportedly in the Midwest city on Thursday, having a look at the prospective stadium, hotel and training facilities as part of negotiations for a proposed summer friendly during Madrid's preseason summer tour in America later this year. This comes on the heels a friendly between English powers Chelsea and Manchester City that drew a crowd of 48,263 at the St. Louis Cardinals' Busch Stadium in May.

The proposed friendly would likely require a temporary grass surface be installed inside the domed arena should the game take place. Potential opponents for the St. Louis date include the entire list of participants in this summer's International Champions Cup, set to take place all across America from August 1 to August 7.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Ángel di María racing up the opposite flanks at the Edward Jones Dome, firing shots from 30 yards or whipping crosses in for Karim Benzema? Yeah, we'll take that over the Rams any day.
