Mexican national team call on MLS duo for upcoming FIFA Under-20 World Cup

FC Dallas goalkeeper Richard Sanchez celebrates Mexico's U-20 CONCACAF Championship

The Mexican national team is hoping MLS can give it a boost in the upcoming FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

El Tri's Under-20 national team coach Sergio Almaguer on Saturday released the final 21-man list of players that he'll be taking with him to Turkey for the World Cup tournament and it features two MLS players.

FC Dallas goalkeeper Richard Sanchez, a star for Mexico's 2011 Under-17 World Cup triumph, was one of three goalkeepers selected to the squad and he will join Chivas USA forward Julio Morales.

Mexico are scheduled to face Greece, Mali and Paraguay in Group D action and they kick off on June 22 against the Greeks.

Morales, a California native in his first year with Chivas USA, scored a goal for Mexico against Nigeria during its recent participation in the Toulon Tournament in France. He started four matches for the Goats this season but is yet to register his first professional goal.

The 19-year-old Sanchez, who was born in California, is in his third year with FC Dallas after signing as a Homegrown player in 2011. Although he is yet to see MLS regular season action for the club, he has featured in Reserve League matches.

Sanchez was recently indicated to be an acquisition target of Mexican power UANL Tigres, but FC Dallas have since dismissed those claims.
