Ever since the 2009 MLS Cup, which RSL won on penalty kicks to claim the club's only official trophy since its expansion in 2005, the two teams have remained at the top of the Western Conference. When RSL and LA clash on Saturday, they will unsurprisingly do so as the currently second and fourth-placed teams in the West, respectively.
