VIDEO: The first video footage of EA Sports' FIFA 14 is released | THE SIDELINE

EA Sports FIFA14

It is June, which can only mean one thing: There are only about four more months until the newest edition of EA Sports' FIFA video game series debuts.

On Thursday, EA released the first game footage trailer of the newest edition of the series, FIFA 14. Regular FIFA gamers don't need me to explain what's new and improved in the latest version, because they'll already know that each year gameplay gets more and more realistic.

Of particular interest already, though, is EA's seeming belief that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale can't squeeze the ball inside the frame of the goal. If you are someone who watched the Premier League regularly in 2012-13, you will know that is categorically incorrect.

The series has also improved its stable of MLS knowledge recently, and even added in BC Place, home of the Vancouver Whitecaps, as a playable stadium in 2012.

Expect FIFA 14 to hit stores in September or October.
