Major League Soccer on Thursday confirmed that Commissioner Don Garber has upheld the MLS Disciplinary Committee's two-match suspension issued to Columbus Crew forward Jairo Arrieta after hearing an appeal from the Costa Rican international.

Arrieta was originally suspended and fined by the Disciplinary Committee on May 17 for violent conduct during a May 11 match in which he struck Colorado's Drew Moor in the face.

The Costa Rican international, who served the first match of the suspension last weekend by sitting out his team's victory over Toronto FC, will also miss this Sunday's match against the New York Red Bulls (5 pm ET, UniMas).
