It's about time.
Houston Dynamo left back Corey Ashe on Thursday received his first-ever call-up to the US senior national team after being added to the USMNT roster for the May 29 match against Belgium in Cleveland.
The 27-year-old will return to the Dynamo after the Cleveland game and ahead of the MLS club's June 1 match at Columbus.
The Dynamo left back will provide cover at the position for US manager Jurgen Klinsmann given that both Fabian Johnson and Edgar Castillo will be unavailable due to club commitments. Johnson is involved in a Bundesliga relegation playoff with Hoffenheim, while Castillo and Club Tijuana are still alive in the Copa Libertadores.

Ashe, who has extensive youth national team experience, including with the Under-23 and Under-17 national team, is the third Dynamo player named to the US squad for upcoming series of friendlies and qualifiers, joining goalkeeper Tally Hall and midfielder Brad Davis.
Both Davis and Ashe will join national team camp in Cleveland on May 27 following Houston’s game at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday. Hall will be a goalkeeper on the US squad that will travel to face Jamaica in Kingston in June.
